Metrohoods?

Metrohoods are the all the cool neighborhoods and exclusive enclaves that are in the City of Reno and Sparks. Most visitors to Reno don’t see these wonderful areas since they are heading to have fun in the casinos or off to see spectacular Lake Tahoe once they land at the Reno-Lake Tahoe International Airport. So, here’s a brief on  some of the greatest places to live in Reno and Sparks.

ArrowCreek – This is a double golf course gated community in the Southwest Surburban area of Reno Located beneath Mount Rose and only 20 miles to Lake Tahoe on 3400 acres of land adjacent to the Toioybe National Forest. This is a supebly designed and located development. The project has approximately 1100 home sites, nestled between the  “Legend” golf course designed by Arnold Palmer and the “Challenge” course designed by Fuzzy Zoeller and John Harbottle III. Both courses have 18 holes and provide enjoyable golf for players of all levels. The community offers a private golf club and a residents club with swimming pools, full gym, tennis courts, soccer fields, running paths, and fun events around the year. Prices start at 650K and go to 3M for homes and lots start at 350K and go to over a million. City, mountain and golfcourse views galore. About 20 minutes to mid town Reno.

Saddlehorn – An absolutely beautiful 500 acre master planned community beneath ArrowCreek with 50  acres of common space and 5 miles of walking trails. The community was originally developed about 12 years ago and was designed for custom home sites ranging from about 2/3 acre to 1 acre parcels. The prices start in the 700’s and go into the high million plus. This is a really nice neighborhood, large winding streets, gorgeous landscaped properties, lots of open space and wildlife. The developers mascot is a Quail and there are lots of them. Lots are rare but do come on the market, usually starting at 350K if you can find one. Neighborhood amenity is a lovely park with playground. Approximately 350 homes presently in the development. Just a few miles to the Summit Shopping Center and 15 minutes to mid town Reno.

Caughlin Ranch - Is considered Reno’s first awarded master planned community just 4 miles from downtown Reno. The essence of Caughlin Ranch is embodied in more than 1150 acres of natural open space, 2400 homes, containing  over 15 miles of trails that mender through the development. Lush landscape is the beauty of Caughlin Ranch with traditional housing and custom homes from 700K to multi-millions. The community has a residents club house,  gorgeous swimming pool, lots of tennis and social clubs. The streets are very appealing with nice curvature that wind around beautiful ponds, across bridges and along tree lined corridors that enhance the entire development. Just mintues to downtown Reno.

Somersett – Reno’s newest master planned community in the Northwest quadrant of Reno, above the Truckee River Valley, with breath taking views. This is fun golf community for families especially featuring a 18 hole course designed by Tom-Kite, a practice par-3 9 hole course and deluxe private country club. The development had 11 architecturally designed villages so that almost every type of home can be found from Tuscan to Craftsman. There are 27 miles of hiking trails, a Town Center that is a social facility,a nd a gorgeous swim center. Homes start at 475K and go to 1.5M for customs. Lots are abundant and start at 250K for a little bigger than a half acre and go to 495K for an acre. Just 15 minutes to the airport, 25 minutes to downtown Truckee and 3.5 hours to the bay area.

Montreux – Reno’s most exclusive gated golf course community on the way to Incline Village, Nevada.  Nestled in a beautful pine laced valley just above  Callahan Ranch is the famous enclave for the rich and richer. Featuring a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course and host to the popular Reno/Tahoe PGA Open tour event each summer.  Billed as a place of “timeless beauty” this classically designed master planned community is lovely. Old world artistry is the theme of the development, capturing story book mansions in a absolutely pictureque setting. Home sites range from 1 acre to several, $375K to a million plus. Custom homes and preferred builder homes start at about a million and go to 5M. Architecturally and HOA strict making this a beautifully enviroment.

St. James Village – A private and gated 1600 acre community in the heart of the mountains and trees, just 25 minutes to Tahoe and 25 minutes to Reno. A wonderful master planned community for those who love privacy, seclusion and nature. The community is limited to 522 one acre plus custom home sites which really gives a home owner a lot of visual space. Six unique villages are within the gates (gorgeous gates) of the property line. Scenic vistas surround most villages and you can choose lots of trees or just a few. Lots start at 350K and homes at 995K and go to the high 2 million. Hiking, bird watching, and wildlife photography is popular. Custom homes are exclusive and no semi-customs or production builders allowed.

Fieldcreek Ranch – This is a lovely rural community located on 500 acres of meadowlands located in South Suburban Reno. Lots are almost sold out and custom homes dot the scenic roadways with abundant landscape and trees. Nicely tucked in the center of the community is Wolf Run Golf Club, a semi-private 18 hole golf course which is very popular with the residents and public alike. Nice, family area with homes starting at 700K and going to 1.4 million on the golf course. Lots are about 300K on the course and very few are available.

Damonte Ranch – Welcome all families, Reno’s newest master planned community with over 2000 acres of natural and scenic Nevada beauty. This community features miles of bike trails that tour you throughout the protected seasnonal wetlands. Enjoy the rest areas and viewing stations to enjoy the migrating water fowl and pristine vista of the surround mountains. Many villages are being developed by nationally acclaimed semi-custom  builders. Homes start at 250K and go up to 900K, depending on the developer. No lots for custom homes available. Excellent shopping is just foot steps away including the new RC Wiley Furniture Store and Home Depot.

Double Diamond Ranch – This was the original part of the preservation wetlands vs housing subdivisons in South Suburban Reno. Adjacent to the Damonte Ranch, this is were the housing boom really started for entry families in Reno. Deluxe communities offered affordable and architecturally pleasing production homes. Every family can live the American dream here in beautifully designed areas. Running and biking trails wind into Damonte Ranch forming a network of over 26 miles of fun riding. Shopping is continuous with major stores, Starbucks, banks and the new Renown Hospital. A lot of corporate employment surrounds the two ranches, making it a breeze to go to work, eco friendly system, just ride!
